BMO Bank of Montreal has donated $50,000 to the
Charlotte County Civic Centre Project – the group that’s working to create a new, multi-functional sports and recreation complex in St. Stephen.
The local committee, working with professional fundraisers, is aiming to raise $3.5 million toward the estimated $15-million civic centre.
The committee has reached the halfway mark in fundraising.
BMO officials announced its donation Friday, Aug. 8 during the official celebration of the 100th anniversary of its St. Stephen Branch.
"BMO Bank of Montreal has taken up the $3.5 Million ‘Make it Happen’ challenge from the Charlotte County Civic Centre Project and we hope that our support will facilitate the realization of this sports and recreation complex that will become a hub for sporting, community and cultural events," said Patricia Purcell, manager of the St. Stephen Branch of BMO Bank of Montreal.
"My colleagues and I at BMO are committed to building a healthy and dynamic community. We’re also pleased to promote a giving culture and we encourage local and regional business leaders and the community to join in and Make it Happen.
In 2007, BMO contributed over $40 million in corporate donations and sponsorships in Canada, supporting hundreds of organizations across the country and in New Brunswick.
