Norah and Peter Heelis, Co-Chairs of the Charlotte County Civic Centre Fund-raising Campaign are pleased to announce that today the Campaign has reached their half-way mark. Donations and pledges totaling over ONE MILLION SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS have been received as of this morning.
Peter Heelis commented, “It’s been a team effort. I’m so proud of the nearly two hundred volunteers who have helped make this happen. It’s their efforts and the generosity of the donors that have brought us thus far.”
Norah Heelis agreed with her husband’s assessment, but cautioned that “We still have a ways to go. We need to continue working hard. We need to recruit even more volunteers and we need to make the final push to reach the goal of THREE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS.”
Although the Committee recognizes the challenge it still faces, today’s announcement is proof positive that the Campaign is working and that together we can make it happen.
Known as the Charlotte County Civic Centre (CCCC), the new facility has been designed to meet the needs of people of all ages by promoting their overall health and wellness through the use of its various aquatic, ice and physical fitness installations. At the same time, the CCCC will serve as an effective catalyst for retaining and attracting new residents, businesses and visitors to the region, while also functioning as a welcoming gathering place and hub of social interaction and County life.
